Our Constitution is a treaty between independent states. The states agreed to give certain powers to a federal government for their mutual benefit.
Educating our children was not one of those powers.
Time and time again, we have seen that when Ohio tolerates a federal government assume powers it was not originally granted, we find ourselves dominated by more populous states that want to dictate to us how we should be doing things “for our own good.”
Ohioans know best how Ohioans should be educated. We don’t need Washington bureaucrats influenced by costal states telling us how to do things.
I support the abolition of the U.S. Department of Education. All money earmarked for federal education grants and subsidies should be immediately turned over to state boards of education in proportion to where those tax dollars came from.
